Robert Louis Wright

C. -- Mr. Robert Louis Wright was born on August 14, 1950 in Abbeville, South Carolina, to the parentage of the late Robert L. Rhodes and Willie Mae Wright.He had two siblings precede him in death, Leroy Rhodes and Mark Louis Alston.He graduated from Abbeville High School, Class of 1968 and was a member of JS Wright High School. Robert was the first black member of the Abbeville High School Grenadier Marching Band. He attended Morris Brown College. He retired from Bell South as regional manager in Asheville, NC.He leaves to mourn his passing: one son, Roland M. Wright of Weaverville, NC; one daughter, Tara Victoria Robian Dozier of Manning, SC; two brothers, Mr. Willie Lee Wright of Abbeville, SC, Ronnie Rhodes (Antoinette) of Marietta, GA; one sister, Linda Cunningham (Bobby) of Columbia, SC; one uncle, James Wright (Willie Bell) of Abbeville, SC; two aunts, Ruth Harkness of Due West, SC, and Naomi Wright, Philadelphia, PA; two grandchildren, Niobe S. Wright and Zaire S. Wright of Anderson, SC; three godchildren, Visanske “Duncan” Slappy, Jamal Slappy, and Nakei Slappy; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and devoted friends.Funeral service will be Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 12:30 p.m. at St. James AME Church, with Bishop Robert Brown officiating and Johnnie Waller, Rev Richard K. Harkness and Rev. Jerome Nance assisting. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens. Public viewing will be Friday, September 1, 2017 at the Brown & Walker Funeral Home from 12 p.m.-8 p.m.The family is at the home of his brother, Mr. Willie L. Wright.
